I need to choose between the gigabyte gt 730 for around 60€ or the msi gtx 750 ti twin frozr for 140€. I'm not keen on spending much and want to see if I can get the gtx 750 ti's stock performance and memory speed by overclocking the gt 730. Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems you're suggesting adjusting the speed and boost settings for your 950m's mem to match or exceed those of 960m's with enhanced performance.

No, it's not possible to significantly boost the GT730 to match the GTX750Ti performance. The GTX750Ti is roughly twice to three times faster than the GT730.

730 offers up to 384 CUDA cores at the maximum, though this can vary by version. The 750 TI model provides 640 cores and significantly more memory bandwidth and RAM capacity (2GB versus 1GB). In theory, boosting the clock speed of the 730 to around 2000+ might help, but it won't work. In short, these are very different products—you can't expect one to perform like the other.

That's what I'm asking if I can push it to 750 ti core speed and memory speed.

Yes, you could come close, though. It also relies on the cooler you're using and the airflow in your setup.

little_me :
730 offers up to 384 cuda cores at the maximum. (or fewer, depending on the version)
750 TI provides 640
750 TI boasts more than double the memory bandwidth and RAM capacity (1GB versus 2GB)
so... in theory, if you boost the clock speed of 730 to around 2000+, maybe? (but don't trust me)
In short, they're completely different. You can't make an elephant run like a gazelle.
That's right (by the way, nice metaphor!)
