Hello.
I want to find out if it's feasible to limit my FPS in games without relying on freesync, gsync, or vsync.

Yes, you may utilize MSI Afterburner RTSS or Nvidia Inspector for Nvidia cards or AMD Radeon settings.

Additionally, certain games offer specialized tools, such as in CSGO, though this varies by title.

Purchasing a monitor with freesync appears to be the sole solution.

not exactly. certain titles such as Overwatch, Minecraft and CS:GO include this functionality by default.
in other cases, you might need to adjust it within your GPU drivers.

Sure, I can clarify further.
For 4K resolution, you’ll likely need a monitor that supports higher refresh rates. Knowing your FPS will help you choose a model that meets your performance goals. With RTX 2080 Ti, you should be able to exceed 60fps at 4K, so picking the right display is important for smooth gaming.

Not really. Check for a frame cap setting in the games you play and in the driver software for your GPU.

You want to limit the output to prevent excessive rates regardless of display settings.
However, certain titles automatically handle this, while others require external tools to manage frame rate.

Ensure the frame rate exceeds the refresh rate (around 60 FPS) by adjusting settings in the NVIDIA control panel under Manage 3D Settings, specifically Vertical Sync to "Fast." This helps prevent tearing. For limiting frame rate due to thermal or power constraints, consider using external tools such as MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, or NVIDIA Inspector.
