I found out my RAM was clocked at 2400MHz even though I had 2x16GB 3200MHz HyperX units. I checked YouTube and turned on XMP Profile 1. My motherboard is a Gigabyte X570 UD. I’m wondering if using XMP might harm the RAM, board, or overall system performance. My current setup includes an R5 5600X, 7800XT, those two 16GB 3200MHz units, and an old Patriot Burst SSD.

Not at 3200mt/s, extremely high DDR5 speeds might lead to issues in Ryzen 7/9000 processors

XMP and EXPO profiles aren't known to harm a PC. A system might crash if it can't handle the profile correctly, which is essentially overclocking RAM. Running at 3200Mhz isn't unusual, so instability or crashes at that speed are rare. Using XMP profiles is generally safe.

XMP profiles are crafted with care to avoid damaging components. Avoid risky actions such as running DDR4 at extreme voltages continuously or altering BIOS settings to boost performance—those can cause serious issues.
