Hi,
I’m looking to begin using PowerShell for various tasks and my first attempt is writing a script to automate Windows updates with automatic restarts using just PowerShell, without installing extra modules like PSWindowsUpdate. Can someone advise if this is feasible? I have only a basic understanding of PowerShell so far. I’ve used it only for simple commands that most people know. Thank you for your help.

Consider locating the registry entries linked to Windows updates. Modify these entries to your preferred configurations and restart the system.

Hi,
Thank you for your message. I wanted to clarify that the example I received actually prompted me to create a new discussion on the forum. When searching online for "PowerShell auto updates," many results and links appear, but most require installing the PSWindowsUpdate module, which I cannot do due to company policies. As a result, these sources are currently irrelevant for me. I’m wondering if it’s feasible to automate Windows updates without using that module.

I have not located any solutions without relying on the PSWindowsUpdate module, which I cannot install or operate via PowerShell because of organizational restrictions. All provided links are therefore irrelevant for me since they depend on that module.
[My underline.]
If this device isn't yours—meaning it belongs to a different organization—I must avoid any actions that violate company policies. Doing so might jeopardize your employment.
Additionally, the forum guidelines forbid help with methods that circumvent privacy and security protections.
