Hello
Checking if it's safe to overclock your i7 8700k by adjusting CPU ratio and voltage is a common approach. However, you should also think about other OC settings in the OC options.

No worries, it's normal.
It's sufficient for a small boost. The issue often lies with the BIOS/Motherboard not setting the right values automatically. If your overclock doesn't function, review the other points I mentioned.
More is better—this should serve as a helpful reference.

When reviewing BIOS settings for CPU overclocking, focus on five key aspects. First, ensure the latest BIOS version is installed. Second, adjust the core ratio for optimal performance. Third, configure the VCore settings appropriately. Fourth, check if any power-saving features are activated. Finally, monitor temperatures to stay below 80°C for safe operation.

Hi
Is it safe to overclock my i7 8700k by only adjusting CPU ratio and CPU voltage? Or should I pay attention to other settings in OC options?
Yes.
You might be fine if you keep the voltage on auto. The main focus should be watching the vcore.
Avoid letting it exceed 1.4v. Check it during a stress test with cpu-Z.
8700K is quite powerful even at stock speed.
How much higher should I go exactly?
I think most chips will reach around 4.5-4.7 without doing much else except increasing the all-core multiplier.
Just proceed slowly.

Apologies to zebarjadi.raouf for the incorrect vote.
The main point is that the CPU ratio and voltage aren't sufficient for overclocking.
Would you like me to look into more information on overclocking?
