Hi! So the g14 has USB 4, but I’m not sure if it’s the 20Gbps or 40Gbps model. I tried contacting ASUS but haven’t gotten a reply yet. I need to set up a dual monitor with the dock—one at 1080p 144Hz and another at 1440p 165Hz. While searching online, I saw mixed info, but with 8-bit color depth it seems around 8 and 15 Gbps. Either way, I’m not sure if using the 20Gbps port would work.

Basically:
- Does the ASUS Zephyrus G14 GA402XV support USB 4 at 20 or 40 Gbps? Or is every USB 4 port 40 Gbps?
- If yes, can I connect it to a Thunderbolt dock?
- Should I opt for a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 dock?

The Zephyrus offers 40GBit/s (USB4 gen3x2), but not every USB4 connection will achieve this speed. USB4 gen2x2 (USB3.2 Gen2x2) typically delivers 20Gbit/s. It's unclear why you'd need a laptop with such low performance. Thunderbolt 4 isn't the same as USB 4. Using a TB dock might give you 40GBit/s if successful, or at best 20Gbit/s if not. For a TB4 dock connection, choose a laptop with a TB4 port.

USB4 isn't necessary for Thunderbolt compatibility. If the product listing doesn't mention Thunderbolt support, it likely lacks that feature.

Do you have any USB 4 hubs that can handle 40 Gbps speeds?

connecting both screens doesn't require knowing the bandwidth details. verify if the hub supports displayport1.4 or HDMI 2.1. which displays are you using?
