basically, I understand the board I picked isn't a Z97 model but isn't it one of the non-Z97 boards that supports overclocking? Also, how much overclocking potential will this CPU cooler setup provide?

You might try adjusting the BCLK slightly, but the effect will be small.

you might need to bclk overclock because it's an unlocked non-skylake processor and may not perform optimally under standard conditions.
