Hey everyone!
This is my setup:
i7 7700K // NZXT Kraken X62
2x Samsung SM960 EVO 250GB RAID 0 // SSD 850 PRO 256GB // WD Black 2TB
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz [17-18-18-38 / 2T]
Asus ROG Strix 1070 8GB OC Edition
Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming
Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

I’m asking if my CPU overclocking at 4.8 @ 1.280 works well with temperatures around 80-85 (average 79 on the hottest core) and occasional spikes up to 90? I tried pushing it further for stability testing with Aida64, which ran for about 10 minutes. I’m planning to replace it soon and will give it another shot. I think I can get it stable at 5GHz with manageable temps.
Cheers.

I would suggest maintaining it below this level. As noted by @CompuTronix
Intel Temperature Guide:
The standard operating range for Core temperatures is clear.
Temperatures exceeding 85°C are discouraged.
Values under 80°C are optimal.

Ambient changes affect core temperatures, which rise or fall accordingly.
Idle temps under 25°C usually stem from cooler ambient conditions.
Peak temperatures happen during stress tests or intensive rendering, but drop in less demanding apps.
Gaming typically stays around 55°C, though it can vary between 40–70°C based on game load distribution, cooling efficiency, and environment.

I revisited 4.5 at 1.215 and everything looks stable. The biggest temperature rise was 80, which isn't unusual. It seems like a good time to wait for the delid. Thanks!
