Set up a virtual machine, perform a new Windows installation, and then launch Task Manager.
The issue mainly hinges on your hardware and the Windows version you're using. Typically, you'll see about 150-200 processes running on most systems by default. It's puzzling why this varies so much. Another concern is that Windows sometimes renames processes during startup, changing their names each time you boot up. I use regular Windows 10 Pro and 11 home, with around 140-170 processes running on average. Sometimes I see up to 200, though that seems unlikely after a fresh install—probably due to many programs. Once I uninstall Icu, the number drops to around 25 processes.
