For instance, a pfSense box with 4 efficiency cores lets it idle at just 11 watts compared to 40 watts for performance cores. This is partly due to Intel's challenges in making performance cores more efficient, prompting them to balance power usage. If they kept only 24 performance cores, cooling would become a major issue. I own a 12400F server and wish I had a higher chip with more E cores, as it idles similarly to the older 8600K model.

Cores in Cinebench are designed for acceleration, but you should aim for P cores for casual gaming unless you're aiming to break records and experience intense performance.
