You've just set up Windows 8 X64 but noticed only 7.88GB of memory available out of 8GB. It seems like some RAM is being reserved, possibly due to BIOS settings or a hardware issue. You mentioned disabling the Intel graphics card in BIOS and using msconfig, which are good first steps. Trying to move a memory card might help too. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

By the way, your motherboard model is Z97MX gaming-5 and you have a G.skill RAM of 1600 MB with 2×4 GB capacity.

Consider reducing the amount of RAM allocated to the iGPU, even when turned off. You can adjust this setting in the BIOS. Still, some memory is typically reserved by the system. It's okay to overlook it.

It's typical to see around 7.8GB out of 8GB available, similar to how an HDD works—paying for 500GB but only getting about 479.

Are you certain it disappeared? I haven’t encountered a configuration with zero usage for any hardware. I’ve only seen values under four megabytes, but never exactly zero.

I confirmed the BIOS was reset and verified that all settings are off.

I've already tried that method, it won't work.
