Can my router stop me from watching videos on a camera over Wi-Fi?
Hey, I have a Tenda N300 router. Everything works fine except when trying to connect two different wireless cameras (one brand, one another). Tried using both WiFi and LAN cables but they still don't get internet access for some reason. One camera uses the YCC365 Plus and the other uses an iCSee app. To check if the router is blocking things, I set up a hotspot on my phone with the exact same name and password as the cameras, and both seem to connect without any trouble. Both use WPA/WPA2-PSK for security. When I went into 192.168.0.1, there aren't many options to switch things on or off because it's pretty basic and I don't see settings like turning off the firewall. The admin panel looks like this: There doesn't seem to be any MAC addresses listed in a blacklist so I'm not sure what is causing the problem. Any tips?
Tenda Router question - Parental Controls. Are the cameras shown as "Children"? Some default Device Name? In any case, the admin panel shows that Access Restrictions are on. Devices can only go online on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7:00 pm (1900 hours) and 9:00 pm (2100 hours). To change camera or device access settings, you need proper admin rights.
Does it work if you turn off parental controls? Maybe, but this looks like it wasn't set up right when you bought it. Can you just reset the router to start over and only change the admin password, the Wi-Fi name (SSID), and the passwords? Usually, a router lets all traffic pass through unless someone makes changes that stop it from working. If the cameras don't work without internet, I wouldn't let them get on. Cameras have had bad security software for a long time and are easy targets for online attacks.
