Can my memory stick hold up without crashing, and what steps can I take to find out?
I recently bought a Corsair Vengeance RAM kit that runs at 2666 MHz with 8GB of memory in two sticks, all glowing with RGB lights. Before this purchase, I had an 8GB stick running at 3000MHz that wasn't RGB. When I put the new RAM into my computer, it automatically set it to run at 3000MHz using XMP settings. The voltage is listed as 1.35V and shows a red light. Is this okay? How can I verify if it is safe?
Hmm yeah, RAM is running at 3000 megahertz. I don't know why exactly. 1.35 volts might help a little but the timings are still pretty high. It's not normal for this to happen under XMP settings since that usually comes with preset profiles. Beyond those presets, you can actually change them manually in custom mode. If your BIOS kept the automatic XMP settings and somehow managed to make it work at higher speeds, so be it. You're lucky if you got that setup right. To make sure everything is stable, run Prime95 or Aida64 to check. Good luck.
1.35 volts is okay and you usually see it written on the board, but that's just a warning color and not a problem. DDR4 actually supports voltages like this easily. Anyway, to figure out how fast your RAM runs, please take a picture of the SPD tab in CPU-Z. That way we can tell if 2666MHz is going to run at 3000MHz or stay at its rated speed without needing an XMP profile.
Hey, thanks for the info on that SPD. The computer thinks it can run at 2666 MHz. But you should check the RAM tab to see how fast your memory is actually doing right now. That will tell us if the CPU is a bottleneck or not.
I can play a video game, take a picture of what's happening on screen, and send that to you while showing how fast my computer is going right now from Task Manager.

Yeah, yeah, RAM is running at 3000 MHz. I don't really know how that happened. Maybe 1.35 volts helped a little bit, but the timings are still pretty high. Getting these under XMP isn't normal since RAM profiles usually have fixed settings and you'd need to tweak them for custom speeds unless your BIOS remembers the old XMP settings automatically and boosts the speed on its own. That's cool if that happened to you. You got lucky if you did that, but if you want to make sure everything stays stable, run Prime95 or Aida64 for a while. Good luck with your new RAM!
