I struggle to even try overclocking on this motherboard, even though I have the newest BIOS. It only allows me up to 3.9Ghz, while checking with CPU-Z shows 3.5Ghz. I own an I5 6600K paired with H110M-C D3. I had to choose a DDR3 board because I couldn't afford DDR4 RAM. Can I still overclock it? Or is there a way to unlock the board for at least a 4.0 overclock? -_-

I believe you require a "Z" type motherboard for the update.

Count Mike believes a "Z" motherboard is necessary for overclocking. He mentions spending $62 on an AMD motherboard that supports overclocking, but he's unsure why his board can't be used similarly.

They only made a small amount of overclockable memory, so you have to purchase a more costly option. Unlike AMD, achieving an overclock requires the proper setup, such as a compatible "K" processor with the correct (usually "Z") memory size.

Can I unlock the BIOS of my H110M-C D3 motherboard to adjust my CPU settings?

Would you have noticed the need for a Z170 board before buying? It's not possible to bypass this requirement. You bought a reliable Intel product that needs a Z170 board to achieve the desired overclocking.
