The issue: My computer has an Intel Core i5 8300h that says it can run up to 45 watts, but if my Nvidia graphics card is active, the system only lets me use 25 watts. Neither the CPU nor the GPU is getting too hot because the power limit isn't a safety issue, just a performance cap when the graphics card is on. At one point years ago I could successfully undervolt this laptop and run it at full speed without any problems. But after an update to Windows about a year ago, I stopped being able to undervolt it now. It can no longer go higher than 25 watts even though the rating says 45 watts. This only happens when my Nvidia GPU is working. If that card isn't running, I can still undervolt and boost past 25 watts without trouble. The problem seems to come from a small chip inside the laptop called an embedded controller. Is there any way to make this CPU reach its full speed of 45 watts while my graphics card is also active?

Hi there, what are you trying to use to undervolt it might be your BIOS is set to locked mode. Did you try downloading ThrottleStop?

I use ThrottleStop, and I can lower my processor speed when the graphics card is off. However, if the NVIDIA graphics card is on, I cannot lower the CPU speed.

Did you change your Nvidia GPU on the settings tab (on the right side)?

Got a new update that lets me lower the voltage in my laptop, even though it's still set to 25 watts and I can use this trick to keep it running cooler than before.
