Varies by context, but refer to the CoC guidelines. If someone wanted recommendations for quality mods for a specific game where you create them yourself, it’s acceptable. However, you shouldn’t simply direct everyone through your own thread.

If it's a mod, fine. But if you're promoting something and need others' views—like whether this game is good or not—I'd appreciate their thoughts.

It's just a CS GO skin, not a mod.

It's better to reach out to a mod directly for faster assistance.

It seems acceptable because none of the existing threads are causing issues. However, I’d better follow @Wauthar’s advice and reach out to a moderator or admin right away to resolve this.

I think it's fine as long as you don't try to get anything in return. Things like rep, money, or other benefits should stay private. If it's just sharing useful content—such as guides or server info—without any advantage for you, I don't consider it advertising. It's better to message the mod directly and ask about it.
