Can I put an extra hard drive into my Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1?
Can I put an extra hard drive into my Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1?
I recently bought a used Dell Latitude 7390 that was running on EBAY. It was a refurbished model with an i7-8650U processor, lots of memory, and solid storage. I felt super happy about the deal because it looked like great condition for its age. But before I paid money to get it, I checked everything online to make sure I could add more hard drive space later. Now that I have the laptop, I just can't seem to find a way to put in an extra SSD. All the websites say you should be able to add one, but when I try, nothing happens and no data shows up. The Dell website lists an M.2 drive as compatible with this model. However, before buying it, I wanted to know if I could actually install that drive without messing things up. Some online reviews said the space for the SSD is there on the motherboard, so I thought I could physically put it in easily. My worry is figuring out how to turn on this new storage and make sure my computer knows about it inside Windows 10. Have anyone else tried this before? Also, what steps do I need to take to change settings in BIOS so the drive shows up right away? Thanks a lot if you can help me with this!
Welcome to the forums! Newcomer here! https://www.dell.com/community/Latitude/...-p/7196852 You should be ready to go out of the box, and I don't think you need to touch anything in BIOS. Just make sure your laptop has the latest version of BIOS before putting the SSD into the slot.
If that were all, I'd be happy. But the Latitude 7390 and the Latitude E7390 are totally different machines and Dell part AB292880 isn't listed for the E7390 at all. It's been a long time since I've taken apart a laptop to fix it, so it still takes work, not just a quick change. And even if you think this will help with the 7390-only model, that was already off my mind last week. Thanks for the idea though, I appreciate it!
The Dell Latitude 7390 has a big choice of storage, so it might work. But I couldn't find where that second piece of storage is on the website. They can probably tell you about the Micro-Sim card and other options for both the main and extra storage. Here are some of the choices:
Primary Storage: 128 GB M.2 SSD
Secondary Storage: 256 GB M.2 SSD
Also there are bigger ones like 512 GB, 1 TB, and more. You can find all these links in their manual page so you can check them out easily.
