Can I plug my computer to a TP Link router called WR840N by using an Ethernet cable?
It should work if you don't use the WAN port (the blue one), it's basically a wifi switch with four ethernet ports. But as we saw before, it will still be slow because it is an old router; it will do its job by sending internet to something that has no wifi. You'd be better off buying a cheap TP-Link Archer T3U, which plugs in easily with your Windows AC1300 router and works great. I bought about 30 of these in bulk for clients, they cost around $20 or less at some stores, and they are much faster than that old router. They go right away when I sell PCs without wifi to people. But they don't work well with Linux; you have to fiddle a lot with commands in the terminal. Although it doesn't have to be TP-Link, there are other brands, but I just hate ones where Windows can't find the drivers. I prefer plug and play. Good Luck
