I’m trying to figure out if upgrading my graphics card would work for Minecraft on my PC. My processor is 3.1ghz, but it’s only 3.0ghz. Would that be enough? If not, I might try overclocking, but I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. It looks like I might not be able to do that. The card I have is an HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF, which I didn’t plan to use for gaming when I bought it refurbished two weeks ago.

You won't be able to overclock that HP motherboard.
The variation between 3.0 and 3.1 is negligible, so you shouldn't notice any performance changes while playing Minecraft.
