Hi, so there are a lot of topics explaining this and I know that Linus made a video about it, but I still couldn't figure it out myself. So I currently have a Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB DDR4 2133MHz CL14 stick and I started using After Effects, but with 8 gigs of ram it's unusable. I would like to buy a Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 ram stick, because currently I don't have enough money to buy the 16 gig one. Can I use those together, even tough the speed will be slower? edit: Also I looked at my motherboard's (ASRock H170M Pro4) website and it only supports 2133MHz ram.

In theory it's possible, though only someone who has actually used the same setup could confirm it. The likelihood of success is strong because you're integrating significantly more RAM that can automatically adjust its speed to fit your slower unit.

Feel free to ask for clarification if needed. It's a possibility! For DDR4, 2133MHz might be too slow, so you could lower the clock speed of the 3200MHz modules slightly. Or your system might automatically adjust RAM speeds to match slower sticks if they're paired correctly. Think about getting two 8GB 3200MHz modules together for a total of 16GB faster RAM.

Yes, I did it, but I’m short on funds and need the upgrade quickly. Then I’ll sell my old RAM and purchase a new one.

Everything looks fine! You should be okay with reduced RAM speeds. Good luck!
