Can I lower the CAS latency for this RAM?
Hi and welcome to everyone reading this. I have a query. I recently constructed a very affordable build because my budget doesn’t let me afford better components. This is the best option available in my country given my financial situation. My setup includes:
Processor: AMD Athlon 3000g (overclocked to 3.9Ghz)
Cooler: Stock Cooler Ryzen 3600
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450m DS3H
RAM: ADATA Premier DDR4 2666 unbuffered x4 (total 16gb)
PSU: Cooler Master CM460W
My question is whether I can reduce the CAS latency on this RAM. Initially, I purchased two 4GB sticks, but someone offered another pair for half the price, so I bought them. Now I have 16GB. I’ve heard that lowering the CAS latency can improve performance.
The improvement in speed from reducing CAS latency is minimal, and it often depends on RAM specifications. Skip this approach unless you have a proper test.
