Hello everyone, thank you so much for reading ahead. My son got his laptop's keyboard wet when he spilled water on it recently. I unplugged everything and took the battery out to let it dry completely. After three days, it finally turned back on normally. But now that we're trying to play games, things get a lot worse than before. When he starts Fortnite for example, the screen shows 144 frames per second right at first. Then about a minute later, the computer drops way down to around 30 FPS and basically stops working. It's not a heat problem at all. I'm wondering if I should actually open it up and look inside to see if there are any water marks or damage? Since I have experience opening up desktop computers before, I think I can do this. I've seen other people on YouTube who remove laptops completely to find the source of the leak and just rinse that spot with a toothbrush and some alcohol. I'm hoping you guys have some tips from your own experiences so I know whether it's safe or not before I decide to get started.

It's a good idea to ask a pro for help; maybe it's just a simple fix that needs a little more care.

I guess I ought to take a closer look for water damage. You're right to do that, but just make sure to put everything back exactly how it was taken out.

Man, it looks like I got too carried away. After cleaning everything out and putting the board back in there... it still won't turn on. It seems like a wire was loose where I didn't check before. That's a big difference between using a PC case and using a laptop. 😞 I'm going to show them tomorrow what happened.

Get this done with a pro, because that will be the best move for now to fix the problem. It might actually just be a simple thing to do.
