I own a Corsair RM750i 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply for five years now, without any issues. I recently upgraded my motherboard and now this motherboard has an extra 4 pin ATX connector that only extreme overclockers use for their most intense overclocking attempts—something I won’t need. My current system runs perfectly without it. Still, it bothers me that a connection is missing, so I’m wondering if I can just purchase a separate cable and connect it to my existing PSU. Would my PSU be able to handle that additional cable? Is there another port on the PSU where I could plug it in? I’m quite particular about my setup.

You need to purchase a Corsair cable to connect the 4+4 CPU connector on the back of the power supply unit, avoid using different cables since their wiring may be exclusive to Corsair.

Yes, no problem.
But it could be unnecessary as the other connector already supplies more power than your CPU ever needs.

Be extremely cautious.
A few Corsair cables appear identical but have different wiring. Purchasing the incorrect one may cause serious issues.
Verify your PSU type—Type3, Type4 or Type5—and select the appropriate cables. Refer to the chart provided.
Avoid trusting third-party sellers for accurate descriptions.
Generally, 3-pin and 4-pin modular cables work interchangeably, though not always.
If you choose a 4-pin EPS 12V cable, connect the PSU side first, but delay plugging it into the motherboard.
Turn on the PSU and use a multimeter to confirm the correct voltages (0V and +12V) are displayed on the right pins for your board. Once sure the pinout matches, shut down the system and finish the connection.
Or better yet, skip the upgrade and avoid unnecessary changes.
