I have a combo cable modem and router set up right in my family room. I also have a computer (desktop) sitting in my home office. I would like to hardwire the desk into the internet, but it won't work if I try to run an Ethernet wire from that current setup all the way across the office. There is already a cable running straight to my office. I also bought a spare modem and router. Can I just plug this new modem into the Xfinity line in my office? Then I can use another Ethernet cable to connect it right to my desk? If yes, do I need any special settings on that second modem? I don't want to use it for Wi-Fi. It will be used only for hardwiring one specific computer. Thanks a lot if someone could help me out here!

Ignore that query; I'm convinced we've solved it already.
