Hey guys, I recently got a new shiny 960 EVO on Friday and finally installed and started using it today. After roughly two hours, my system crashed and the SSD didn’t show up in the BIOS. It also took an unusually long time to load, something I’ve only experienced with a failing HDD. I think it’s probably broken now.

My specs are 4790k and a GA-Z97X-UD3H. The OC settings were:
Clock freq - 102.13
Clock Ratio - 47 (giving a total of 4.8ghz)
Vcore - 1.36
CPU Vrin - 2.2
CPU Ring - 1.13 (this is the value I’m most worried about)
And the RAM was adjusted and stabilized to compensate for frequency changes.

So, can this damage a 960 Evo? If not, what could be the cause? Sorry if this isn’t the right place, but I strongly think my overclocking might be the issue.

Others could have a better idea. However, I'm fairly certain that increasing the base clock speed would require changing the FSB.

The CPU clock does not harm a storage device. They are distinct issues. A BIOS update may be necessary for the specific motherboard to optimize performance with your M2 drive.

My bio is current :/ I'm concerned when my replacement comes in about overclocking once more. It's tough to accept that the SSD failed after just two hours of use.
