it is a standard usb connection, so your pc won't draw power if it doesn't match the newer usb4/tb4 tech. Also remember that certain functions may not work or be limited, such as multi-monitor configurations... If you need just usb ports and an sd card slot, choose a basic usb hub with reader for the best value around $30.
