Can a laptop handle a 144hz monitor?
I recently upgraded my monitor on my main PC and now, with a spare monitor available, I tried connecting it to my laptop. However, when I connected the HDMI to the laptop, it only supported 60Hz, regardless of whether the resolutions were 2560x1440 or 1920x1080.
I also purchased an HDMI 2.0 port because I wasn’t sure if the HDMI I had was capable of handling full HD at higher speeds, but it didn’t work. I’m not very familiar with PCs or laptops, so my main question is whether my laptop can actually run the laptop and support running 144Hz on either of those resolutions.
My laptop: Katana GF76 12UE (1920x1080, 144hz)
My monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU 27-inch (2560x1440, 144hz can be overclocked to 165hz)
Information about the laptop
It's not something I've done prior. I believe working as an active adapter could be a solution, though I'm uncertain. I'm hoping someone else can confirm.
