Can a defective CPU lead to specific GPUs freezing a system during startup?
I've checked many fixes for my rig to resolve the issue. I'm trying to determine if a bad CPU might be affecting a specific GPU, or if there are two separate problems. So far, I've replaced the motherboard and power supply, but they don't seem to be the main issues. Testing confirmed the problem starts with system freezes during BIOS loading, eventually causing a reboot without entering BIOS.
One change involved swapping the Rock GPU for an older 1050Ti GPU, which now posts but gets stuck in a repair loop when trying to load Windows. Another attempt used a borrowed RAM stick from another system, and the issue persisted with rebooting during repairs.
I also replaced an NVMe SSD with an older SATA SSD and tried using the original Windows installation USB, but the system failed to complete the install.
Now I have a new CPU on order, which seems likely to be the cause. I'm concerned that whenever I connect my newer GPU, the system still struggles to finish posting or loading BIOS. Could the CPU be contributing to this, or is there another problem like a damaged GPU?
Not certain about the significance of PSU since it's a fully replaced part. But,
XPG Core Reactor Modular PSU: 80 Plus Gold - ATX - Completely Modular Power Supply - 10 Year Warranty - 750 Watt
This is the updated model. The previous one was a Thermaltake 550.
Also, keep in mind this machine has been operating normally since March (the new GPU was installed then)
