Cryorig R1-Ultimate measures 168.3mm in height, while my case (Cooler Master N-500) has a maximum CPU cooler height of 162mm. I've seen discussions about coolers being too tall for certain cases. Will the Cryorig R1 fit?

A smaller cooler should work just fine. It doesn't need to be as large as the R1 model. As mentioned before, BeQuiet can handle it easily.

6.3 mm is quite a lot. I wouldn't risk it, honestly. On the other hand, what kind of CPU are you using? Because if you're not on a 2011-3 board, the R1 is way too much. If you just need a black cooler, be quiet! Dark Rock 3 will handle it easily.

I have an i7-4790k and I'm using a z97x 1150 board.
I'm planning to overclock it. By the way, I'm new to this.
