Can I install a 750ti in a Dell OptiPlex 5050 without external power, and do I have the two required slots? Please let me know if you need advice.

Hello on the forums, new member!
Can I fit a 750ti in a dell optiplex 5050?
Which 750ti models are we referring to here?
https://www.dell.com/en-hk/shop/pcs...r-...50-desktop
What power supply do you have installed in your build? To add, how long has your build been assembled? If it's the 180W unit you had before, don't worry about installing a separate GPU into that build.

You'd need a low-profile 750Ti model and would have to remove the VGA port to accommodate the slim bracket. It also recommends a 300w power supply while you only have an 180w one. The GT1030 would consume less power but wouldn't be as fast.

It seems the layout limits you to only certain card types fitting into specific slots. The x4 slot accommodates dual-slot coolers, while the x16 slot only takes single-slot cards unless the PSU is removed. GT1030 models are more commonly available in single-slot configurations, and a 30w unit (or 20w for DDR4) is more likely to work with a 180w PSU compared to a 60w 750Ti. Larger drop-in Flex ATX PSUs, like the 300w Optiplex XE3, could fit but wouldn’t allow a dual-slot cooler. You’d still have space for a cooler if you mount the PSU externally, though choosing a standard ATX unit would be preferable.
