I've been checking out HP Elitedesk G3 sffs and wondering if I can use its PSU without upgrading to an RTX A2000 with 6GB RAM. The system will mostly be idle since it's also going to be a home server, which is why I'm opting for the RTX A2000 and HP Elitedesk G3.

The home server requires a powerful GPU because the GT1030 could suffice for display purposes if only that is needed. Intel HD should also be sufficient for general tasks. A 70W GPU is reasonable, but it's important to verify the motherboard supports 75W, as not all slots do.

How informal? The GT1030 or a low power/profile GTX 1050 can manage light gaming. An A2000 sits in the middle of an RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 range.
RTX 3050 with 6GB is a more sensible option.

It should work without using external PCI-e connectors to supply power to the card. Based on available space, several RTX 3050 models are compact and significantly more affordable than the A2000.
