Consider upgrading to a more advanced hypervisor such as Unraid. You can transfer your virtual machines to a USB drive using standard tools, and they will function normally without needing to rebuild them.
Consider using Hyper-V or Proxmox as the hypervisor instead of Windows 10. This should improve performance and simplify management.
You can move your VMs by transferring them between hosts or using migration tools provided by your hypervisor. Hyper-V and Proxmox differ from Unraid in that they focus on virtualization software, while Unraid is a dedicated hardware virtualization platform.
Poxmox runs on the same Linux + KVM setup as Unraid but offers extra storage and VM choices, and it's free. It’s straightforward to use. Both Unraid and Poxmox are free options. Hyper-V is also available in Windows 10. You can back up your VM, create an image, and restore the backup if needed.
You're unsure about moving or copying virtual machines since you're new to them. It's okay—Hyper-V is a good starting point. Since it comes pre-installed on Windows, you can begin experimenting there first before moving to other setups.
To turn on Hyper-V in Windows 10, go to the Programs and Features menu and enable it. Be aware this may affect VMware Workstation.
