They seem to already have some IT setup in place. It looks like they're aiming for a professional-level solution. The first thing we need is a clear list of requirements. What devices are connected to the network? What are their purposes? Is Wi-Fi available? Who will be using it and what access levels should be set? Without a detailed requirement list, it's hard to provide precise guidance.

It was my initial idea too. However, because it seems like you're looking for something straightforward and affordable, I thought about using Ubiquiti. Just a UDM-Pro SE and a few access points could suffice. It should be simple to install, reasonably priced for the features, and offers basic security options.

I agree with the Ubiquiti suggestion. It's really straightforward. You might even leverage their phone and camera features if required.

I want to make sure I'm not suggesting anything yet. This is just to highlight that it could be what you're after. However, with limited details, it might not be the best match at the moment.

This tiny community seems to lack any IT presence, though it’s possible the town’s tech team stepped in. Sorry if I missed important details. I still don’t have everything clarified. My wife, who sits on the board as I mentioned, told me I’d be assisting them. I’ll collect more information and share my findings. From what I remember, there were a few librarian computers, some public terminals, at least one media streamer with a projector that also connects via hardwired links—maybe even Wi-Fi could work. I’m sure they likely have separate networks for employees and the public. The Ubiquiti idea came to mind too; Dream Machine SE with a couple of access points should cover their needs. I’m worried the cost might exceed what they can afford. Thank you all for giving me your time and attention. I’ll follow up after a site visit.

Unifi would likely be my top choice too. If you share more info, we can assist further.

Not sure if they have someone that has the knowledge but there is a possibility of getting government grants as it's a public library. My brother in law works for a parks and rec department and drives the short smart busses that are used to ferry senior citizens to appointments and other festivities and I know they get grants.
