Building a PC for work, rendering, and gaming? 1500 USD or 1400 EUR is a solid investment.
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for your assistance with my new PC setup.
It will mostly be used for gaming—ranging from FPS to RTS and retro titles—and also for hobby purposes like PS and video editing.
Gaming is the primary focus, though I’ll need a bit of everything.
My budget is around 1500 USD or 1400 EUR.
Here’s what I have in mind:
- Case: Be quiet! Pure Base 500DX (I prefer simple designs without strong RGB)
- Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4
- CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K
- Cooler: Be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
- RAM: Kingston FURY Beast DIMM 2x16GB 3200MHz DDR4 (potentially doubling later)
- SSD: Samsung M.2 SAMSUNG 970 Evo Plus 2TB
- HDD: Seagate 3.5" 2TB
- GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Gaming X 12G 12GB GDDR6 (may upgrade later)
- Power Supply: Be quiet! 1000W - PURE POWER 12M (or 850W for cost reasons, but it won’t affect the price much)
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Hello,
Nice parts list... except you have an AMD chipset motherboard with an Intel processor. The i5-13600K will require a B760 or Z790 chipset motherboard and DDR5 RAM.
DDR5 jumps the price up. If you want to stick with DDR4, you could go with an AMD processor such as the Ryzen 7 5700X instead of the i5-13600K. That could save you $100 right there.
An easy way to guide your parts picking is to use

. It alerts you when you have incompatible parts picked out.
Cheers!
