I have an outdated motherboard (Asus Prime b550m-a AC) and a Ryzen 5600 processor. I've been upgrading these components over several months, leaving them idle. I'm planning to dive into home server projects using Proxmox, handling virtual machines and similar tasks. Since my CPU lacks integrated graphics, I need a discrete GPU for video output if I want to build another desktop. I intend to run the server headless in a closet and access it remotely when needed. Do you think it's feasible to boot the server without a GPU from the start? I understand removing the GPU from my main machine could get me going, but it might be time-consuming and inconvenient.

Based on my own setup, you need to use a GPU to enable posting and booting headless. I’m running it with a B450M S2H V2 and R5 3600 via Proxmox, but it reports no GPU (shows four beeps) during post, though everything functions normally afterward.
