I’m assembling my first PC and am struggling to identify the cause of the memory problem. The RAM slots initially held correctly, but I’ve moved them around, used only one stick at a time, and swapped them without success. I made sure they were fully seated each time and confirmed compatibility with the motherboard (I received the CPU, board, and RAM in a microcenter package). I attempted to re-seat the CPU and graphics card, slightly loosened the cooler, updated the BIOS, and even booted it with the latest version for about ten minutes—still seeing the red light. After clearing the CMOS, the issue persisted. I’m uncertain what’s wrong and feel hesitant about trying more fixes. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Gigabyte components, a high-end DDR5 RAM, a powerful power supply, and storage drives. I’m hoping it’s not a simple hardware fault and would appreciate any guidance.

No, I didn't install RAM in the nearest slot to the CPU.

It seems there was no success in adjusting the RAM settings for any configuration. I attempted it once.

Place one stick in the nearest available position, ensure CMOS is clean, detach the GPU and rely on built-in graphics, eliminate every storage device.
