Someone said I could build an i3 and it would run circles around my old build so I have this setup on pc builder chosen let me know if I can improve on this. Looking to keep it near the same budget. If any compatibilities occurs let me know as I’m a noob.
The i3 12100 offers roughly half the speed of your i7 7700K, it should handle current titles, though it lacks long-term stability. For better performance and durability, consider a 12400 or 13400.
I suggest avoiding the F skew when the price gap isn't significant. In the future, if you encounter issues with your aging graphics card, you won't have any option to rely on integrated graphics for troubleshooting, and you might need to use it temporarily until a replacement arrives.
Your strategy is solid. I wouldn’t waste money on the F suffix chip just to save a few dollars. If you encounter any graphics problems, integrated graphics will still get you through. Everyone has a budget, and an i3-12100 is a sensible choice. Here are some reviews: Intel Core i3-12100 Review: The Little Gaming Giant A modest quad-core delivers strong gaming performance. If your budget allows, consider upgrading to something stronger, maybe 13400. Here is another review: Intel Core i5-13400F Review: Great Value Gaming at $200 Mid-range gaming now has a new contender.
I’ll receive the 13400 then. This comp really messed up me (dead mb). The motherboard I listed is the same brand, but now I’m not getting any output at all—even with VGA. I managed to get an image once, but the pin on the cooler fan broke and I replaced it, yet no image appears anymore. So I’m considering spending as little time as possible or building a completely new PC.
big, open world games with rt on are not allowed. lighter games are acceptable.
