BSOD with XMP
BSOD with XMP
Hello guys, I'm facing an issue with XMP causing random BSODs mainly during gaming. My system specs are: MOBO MSI x470 gaming plus, CPU Ryzen 7 2700x, RAM G.SKILL RIPJAWSV 16GB DDR4-3200 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB), PSU Corsair CX650M. When I enable XMP profile 2 at 3200 MHz, I experience random BSODs while gaming and browsing. I've run MemTest on both sticks with XMP enabled and saw a lot of errors in test 8. After that, testing each stick individually showed issues only in slot B2, while A2 passed all tests. I think the problem might be with the PSU or maybe the RAM/SOC settings, but I've checked voltages, timings, and even updated the BIOS without any changes.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Could you share the specifications of your discrete GPU? It would also be helpful to know the BIOS version currently installed on your motherboard. Make sure you've progressed smoothly to the latest BIOS and then manually enter the timings, frequency, and voltages found on the RAM stick's label in BIOS.
Regarding the PSU, it's recommended to perform a memory test on each RAM slot to ensure there are no faulty sticks or slots.
Hey!! Thanks for your reply!!
My GPU is GTX970. I updated my BIOS to the latest version and tried all timings, frequencies, and voltages using both a sticker and a DRAM calculator multiple times.
My PSU is six years old. I don’t like the Corsair PSU because I’ve had issues overclocking with that brand before. I didn’t have the funds to replace it until now, so I’m planning to swap it out for an EVGA 650 G2. On memtest, all four slots passed the test when using a single stick and XMP was disabled, but when XMP is enabled only slot 4 (B2) shows errors during each stick test.
I resolved the issue by turning off the gear down mode and PBO!! No errors detected during memtest!!
