BSOD with Hogwarts Legacy - Win 11 - 4080
Dear TH Community, I visit only when all options seem exhausted. I'm unsure whether this is related to Nvidia, a game issue, or a mix of both.
Problem:
- Every time I launch the game, it loads the shader bar; once it hits 90% load, the game always crashes.
- If I attempt it again, I encounter a BSOD with a WATCH_DOG_TIMEOUT error, which seems connected to CPU communication issues, but I'm not sure how to fix that.
Details:
- System: Rogstrix 4080 (not overclocked)
- Graphics: I713700K (overclocked by IA from Asus)
- GPU: Z790-E (overclocked with IA from Asus)
- Cooler: Corsair Dominator 6400HZ (XMP profile dual channel)
- No other crashes reported, only this one. I tried disabling the IA overclock in BIOS but prefer not to change settings for a single game when others work fine.
- Actions taken:
- Updated BIOS and chipset – everything functions normally
- Reinstalled Nvidia drivers with DDU, MPO on/off – both caused BSODs
- Reinstalled the game – only minor improvement: no immediate BSOD, but crashes still occur intermittently after multiple attempts
Questions:
- Is there any possibility of resolving this without a patch from Nvidia?
- Are others experiencing similar problems?
- Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
Thank you for your help. I apologize for my limited English; I'm not a native speaker.
Best regards,
