BSOD occurs right after startup due to driver failure.
Hello, I’m experiencing a BSOD with the code POWER_DRIVER_STATE_FAILURE when starting up. My Discord launches but doesn’t complete, and I can’t access other apps. After that, I power off the PC and see the BSOD again. I need to shut down and trigger another BSOD. The system runs Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.3194, x86 32-bit or x64? Which version is it? Was the original OS a retail install or an OEM copy? My hardware is roughly four months old except for the HDD, which is about two years old. I’m using a 4-month-old 2TB SSD as the main drive and occasionally transfer files from the HDD. The OS was installed four months ago; no CPU model has been changed. The graphics card is RX 7800 XT (Adrenalin 24.12.1), motherboard is Asus TUF Gaming B650M-E Wi-Fi, BIOS from American Megatrends, dated October 29, 2024. Power supply details are listed, and I have a Minidump and perfmon report available. Please let me know what you think.
The logs switch between issues with the audio part of the iGPU and the GPU itself. This appears to be a recurring problem in AMD GPU driver setups when both the integrated graphics and dedicated GPU are enabled on systems with an AMD CPU. In earlier troubleshooting steps, disabling the iGPU via BIOS didn’t resolve the issue, so removing the GPU driver with DDU and installing a new one from AMD’s site is the most reliable solution—keep the iGPU disabled during installation. If the problem persists after that, please share updated dump files.
Just turn off all monitors using the GPU. These days GPUs usually only have one HDMI port, but cheap DP to HDMI adapters are affordable for standard 1080p screens. High-res or high-refresh rate displays might need a more costly active adapter, though they should support DP by default. You can attempt DDU without turning it off, but that hasn't been successful for me yet.
The model I discovered on Gigabyte's site is version 23.9.1, which isn't the newest release from AMD. It might include some adjustments.
I've been running my PC without the integrated graphics for a few days and haven't experienced any crashes. Thanks a lot!
