I changed my BIOS yesterday as it was included with the Intel microcode update for CPU voltage. My setup includes an I7-13700k 32 GB, 3200MHz DDR4 system (g.skill TridentZ). I upgraded to Windows 11 recently, but to be extra cautious, I reformatted my boot drive and ran a clean install of Windows 11. This CPU/motherboard combination has never triggered a BSOD before until this update. My previous BIOS settings had the GB perfdrive set to default and XMP enabled. I’ve tried turning XMP off without success. I’m confused about fixing the BSOD, as the system fails to boot fully before showing an error. Any guidance or suggestions would be really helpful.

The BSOD displays a stop code that offers clues about the problem. Have you noticed this code?

Seems like solid repair data available. I’ll cap the vcore at 1.55v. Since you haven’t faced problems before, rolling back might be a smart choice. https://community.intel.com/t5/Processor...-p/1622129

Sure, if it doesn't work, it won't break either. Intel, likely.

I’ll power up the PC upon returning and capture the BSOD code for you! I’m pretty sure it matches the one displayed in the attached image.

You can attempt to revert the BIOS settings by following the manufacturer's instructions or using the appropriate recovery tools. If you're ready, proceed with tonight’s trial!

Perhaps adjust the settings slightly based on the temperatures too. I watched a great video explaining how to align all cores rather than relying solely on a single high-performance core turbo, which can cause the voltage to rise sharply. Setting an IA VR limit seems optimal. We should still keep track of the error code, since it might stem from other reasons as well.

Visit C:\Windows\Minidump to see if any minidump files exist. If present, return to the Windows directory and transfer the Minidump folder to the Downloads folder (use your desktop if needed). Compress the copied folder and include it in a post. Please adhere strictly to instructions since Windows doesn't allow file changes there.

The error message you're encountering when XMP is active is "SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION."

The error message you're receiving indicates a problem with the system service.
