BSOD boot loop
BSOD boot loop
Looking for a tip before you invest time fixing this issue. A storm hit last weekend and the power fluctuations knocked out my UPS. After restoring power, I’m stuck in a BSOD loop and can’t get past it. When I turn on the machine, it shows a “System exception, thread no handled” message and restarts. In BIOS everything seems fine—CPU, RAM, boot drive are detected. I’ve used a Windows recovery USB but it still fails. I’m running low on options unless I replace parts. Current setup: Windows 11 (installed under 2 weeks), Ryzen 7 5800X, Sapphire 6800XT, 64GB M.2 SSD, Asus TUF X570-Plus Wi-Fi drive, Samsung 980 1TB M.2 SSD, Corsair 1000W PSU.
It seems the issue might be more serious than just a missing drive. I’ve encountered classpnp.sys and refs.sys errors, and removing drives hasn’t resolved it. It’s possible the power problem damaged Windows significantly. I managed to enter recovery mode once using a USB with the boot drive taken out, but that didn’t help. You might want to consider replacing the drive and installing it now.
