You recently installed a new PC and noticed it doesn’t show anything when powered on. You’re using a VGA to DVI 24+5 setup and then connected an HDMI adapter for your monitor. You tried using the built-in VGA, but that didn’t work either. You’ve checked everything and everything seems fine. Please let me know what happens next.
DVI handles both analog and digital signals, though on separate connections. (The four pins near the + sign in the connector are the analog ones.) VGA is purely analog. HDMI transmits only digital data. A VGA-to-DVI adapter simply swaps the VGA pins for the DVI side. I'm confident the DVI-to-HDMI adapter does not alter the analog signals, it merely links the digital DVI pins to the proper HDMI outputs. You'll need a VGA-to-HDMI converter that also includes an analog-to-digital converter if you want a VGA display to appear on your monitor's HDMI input. Those inexpensive adapters won't work because they're built for HDMI connections in walls, not for linking VGA signals. If your graphics card outputs digital signals (like DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI), it's usually more effective to connect directly to that port.
VGA connects to a DVI adapter, which then links to an HDMI adapter. Since the 1050 ti includes HDMI, using an HDMI cable should work directly without needing multiple adapters. The confusion likely comes from trying different ports instead of the built-in HDMI port.
