Broken PC
I tried a game yesterday and the computer stopped working completely. Could you help figure out what might be wrong? I think it’s not just a power supply issue since a USB device turned it on before, and there’s a clicking sound when trying to power it up. My system specs are: Intel Core i5 13400, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Corsair RAM, Aorus P750W PSU, B660 DDR4, Gigabyte motherboard. Any advice would be great.
The only thing you can do is open your case and check if any cables are loose, such as the cpu power cable if there is one, your harddrive, and especially the motherboard power cable (the big one with 24 pins). Even if they seem fine, try reseating the cables. Please also give information on your mobo and other components it might help me and others that join this topic. Power supply is what you’re referring to. The sound you hear is the circuit activating to safeguard the parts. I’ve never seen a motherboard make any noise. Keep in mind your PSU provides three voltages: 3.3, 5, and 12. Just because the 5V powers your USB device doesn’t confirm the others are working. The only sure way is to use a PSU tester.
Check if the fans are running at startup and whether any lights activate on the board, GPU, or both.
Choose a reliable PSU from brands like Corsair or EVGA. Avoid Gigabyte models—those are problematic. If you must, return it via RMA and consider selling it for value, or discard it if it doesn’t work. A quality Corsair RM 750x or EVGA 850w GA is a solid choice I’ve used personally.
