They highlighted their inability to use federal funds for expanding internet infrastructure properly, as they were supposed to when awarded those funds. The lack of significant action means little impact. Although they received large sums intended for customer service, most was spent on bribing officials rather than improving services.

I dislike the city... Yet I dislike the rural internet. So yeah.

I believe most ISPs followed the same approach.

Depends, if there is money to be made then a smaller isp could consider it, however the costs would still be high and depending on the distance and networking required it could in fact be higher cost to them then someone like comcast that has most areas somewhat covered, at least in the nearest suburb or city that is. If you are talking about the federal grants, I think that was just the big ones like AT&T Comcast Time Warner etc

Uverse offers fiber connections but phone lines can deliver internet over very short ranges, which may not be as effective as what you currently have. Mediacom appears to be a cable company, so their offerings would follow typical providers. The main concern is whether your area has coaxial cables installed near your home. If not, that could be a problem. Your neighborhood actually has more choices than yours—Comcast and AT&T are available, though AT&T doesn’t cover most of the city except in limited areas. WOW customers in nearby communities mentioned that potential customers in Romulus weren’t worth building out a network there. I’m sorry to break this news, but with current trends and mergers, more options won’t appear soon. New services will likely stick to 4G LTE or 5G, often with limits, fees, or throttling. All telecom firms have received funding, but unless population density is high enough, they won’t justify serving everyone. Unless Comcast uses it to expand its existing network, it’s not a priority for growth.

It varies depending on whether your lines are mounted or underground. A cable tap resembles a splitter and is typically installed on utility poles. If your home only has four outlets, it’s likely a surface-level connection. When not visible above ground, the tap is usually buried. You’ll often notice small boxes emerging from the earth, which house all the necessary wiring connections. These are similar to the types found in underground installations.

They require a proper address for service access. Sharing internet beyond the assigned address violates Comcast's terms of service.
