Brand new PC, Windows not able to be setup.
Your friend is facing challenges getting past the BIOS setup to install Windows. They have a working MSI Z490 board with the correct BIOS, but the PC won’t boot into Windows yet. A 64GB USB drive containing the Windows installer is present, yet it doesn’t lead to the installation screen. Pressing 'delete' during startup doesn’t clear the BIOS, and even after changing the boot order to an NVME drive or using a different drive, they still get stuck in the BIOS menu. After switching to CSM and setting the NVME/USB as primary boot devices, the system returns to the BIOS prompt. The only error they’ve seen is “Select a proper boot device.” No hardware problems appear to be present. TL;DR – The issue lies in persistent BIOS configuration or possible driver conflicts, despite having the Windows media on a USB stick.
The bootable USB installer was created using a scripting language such as Bash or PowerShell.
Received via Microsoft Windows installation media. The issue was resolved. He managed to clear the drive using the earlier Windows install of all competing drivers.
