Instead of a complete water cooling setup, I’m aiming for two additional brackets to cool my ASUS Strix 980 Ti OC. I already have my i7-6700 with a Corsair Hydro series cooler (the exact model is unclear). Since thermal throttling is an issue and I can’t lower the voltage without affecting performance, I’m considering adding GPU cooling since loud fans aren’t an option for my YouTube content. Cleaning or rearranging the existing six fans hasn’t helped; I’m now focusing on getting them water cooled.

I searched online for a while but didn’t find any brackets explicitly mentioning support for the ASUS Strix 980 Ti. The Kraken G10 model doesn’t seem compatible with my GPU. Anyone have recommendations for water cooling solutions tailored to this specific GPU and case? Also, could you suggest a suitable liquid cooler for high-performance GPUs in similar setups?

P.S. My case is a Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow Edition Full Tower ATX.

These factors suggest the GPUs might be limiting performance. Load temperatures indicate how hot they are under current workload. Your preference for not using an AIO cooler for CPUs or GPUs is understandable.

i'm not planning to buy waterblocks since i like to just get closed loops and attach them directly to my gpu. using waterblocks would make me spend a lot of money, like at least $300. i'm thinking of using the kraken g12 and a few corsair h55 liquid cpu coolers for my gpu; that would cost around $160 total. just need to confirm if the kraken g12 or another gpu bracket will fit my specific card!

What concerns you about the GPUs throttling? What are the load temperatures? Also, I haven't liked using an AIO cooler for a CPU, especially a GPU. My graphics cards reach 92 degrees Celsius; I've found that thermal throttling occurs around 86 degrees Celsius for them. I used valley benchmark and hwmonitor/aida64 extreme edition to track FPS. My FPS is cut in half each time one of the GPUs hits 86 degrees Celsius. I've repeated the tests many times, and the FPS drops consistently at that temperature. I don’t have much budget for watercooling, so my idea is to use some GPU brackets and CPU watercoolers for affordable and effective cooling. I read that with this approach, I can expect around 60 degrees Celsius on my GPUs, which is fine for me. I just need someone to confirm if the Kraken G12 or another GPU bracket works well with my specific GPU.

You face more significant problems, then. If your GPUs are reaching high temperatures, it suggests inadequate case airflow. Here is a test to verify this.
Take off the side panel of your case. Use a box fan or desk fan at full speed and direct air into your case while simulating the usual loads.
If the thermal problems disappear, you likely have an airflow issue in the case and should investigate that.
If the problem persists, hardware concerns become more likely, such as dust-clogged or non-working GPU fans.
Moving the thermal issue elsewhere by adding a closed loop cooler might not resolve the problem if the coolers aren’t effectively drawing in external air.

All are Noctua models (120mm or 140mm). Two exhaust fans run through a radiator for my liquid CPU cooler, but I doubt this will significantly impact airflow. The GPU’s air coolers have three fans each, which can be quite loud. I’m considering swapping them for a closed loop setup using two Noctua fans in push-pull mode to reduce noise and potentially lower GPU temperatures. Would you notice any changes in your airflow or plan now? No one has commented otherwise, so I haven’t suspected an issue before; now I suspect a serious problem. P.S. My fan speeds reach 1300rpm or 1500rpm for the 120mm and 140mm models.
