When playing Cod Modern Warfare your CPU reaches full capacity while the GPU stays around half power. To improve this, consider upgrading to a better CPU like an LGA1151 model with higher performance. If you're looking for quick fixes, check if your current setup can benefit from a cooler case or better cooling solution. Also, ensure your RAM and SSD are compatible and optimized for the new CPU.

The top CPU you can get without modifying your board is the 7700/k, which offers a solid upgrade.

You might consider moving to a 7700(k) since the problem lies in its quad-core CPU. A refurbished 7700 can still fetch over $100, which isn’t practical. Plus, you’re stuck on a platform that could disappear soon—especially with upcoming consoles arriving in just two months. I’d recommend saving up and planning a Ryzen 4000 upgrade when they launch. It’ll give you a more reliable system that lasts longer instead of being a dead end.

You've discovered an i7 9700K at a lower price compared to the 7700K. It's possible to upgrade it, though overclocking isn't recommended due to your motherboard. Would spending around $80 more improve performance?

You require a fresh motherboard, specifically in the second-hand market such as eBay for the 7700K model. What price does the 9700K command?

A fresh board is needed for the coffee lake setup. It should work fine because you won’t be overclocking the 7700/k.

it remains possible, though intel chose to abandon compatibility. you may have to upgrade the motherboard or explore unofficial methods to run 9th gen on z170/270 chipsets. these approaches demand BIOS and CPU modifications, which aren't straightforward for most users. luckily, if you're fortunate, someone might already have a modified BIOS for your specific board. the CPU tweaking is manageable—just cover certain pins with adhesive tape. still, given the situation, it seems more sensible to invest in newer hardware rather than risking this setup.

Same port but incompatible with 100 and 200 models. Intel intentionally blocked upgrades. A 299 for a 9700k feels like poor value—just an 8-core chip without hardware support.
