Check the ASUS B250 manual for ECC support details. The board might have limitations even if your CPU is compatible. Consider using a dedicated ECC module instead of relying on the motherboard.

For ECC to function properly, every link in the sequence must support it. This includes the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. There are a few exceptions—some older boards like X79/X99 might work with ECC RAM, and most X58 boards do too—but on the B250 platform this isn't the case since Intel has disabled it on non-workstation chipsets. It's essentially a software restriction, not a hardware limitation, and the only possible reason is Intel's business interests.
