I'm unsure which option to choose, so I'm gathering opinions to create a simple pros and cons list. OXP Pros: Runs Windows, big screen for local purchase instead of eBay, uses M.2 2280 SSD, less powerful APU (4800U), not as easy to repair, harder to upgrade SSD, no Valve Shader pre-cashing which can cause lag in games like Elden Ring and others, Steam Deck pros: runs Windows or Steam OS, great repairability, easily upgradable SSD, more customization options on the controller. Cons: Will have to wait until November or buy a cheaper one, doesn't run Windows as smoothly, might be a scam if bought from questionable sources.
For immediate needs, proceed with OXP. If time allows, obtain the Deck.
This device delivers peak gaming speed. If you're okay with that, it's perfect. Otherwise, consider alternatives.
I doubt anyone is purchasing the OXP for Windows, but I’m leaning toward the Steam Deck since it’s worth the wait.
Uncertain about using Windows because it doesn’t usually work well with touchscreen or controller setups, especially when contrasted with Gaming Mode on the Deck. The cost is also a factor—this model costs significantly more than the premium option and offers inferior performance.
They didn’t mention it, but it seems the focus is on using SD cards without worrying about Windows installation. Good SD cards shouldn’t affect performance noticeably, so you don’t need to upgrade your SSD for speed. Also consider battery life and how easy it is to tweak settings. In short, go with SD.
